Are you ready for May 1? Incident Response Rule - what you need to know
(April 7th webinar recording)
The deadline for compliance of the new notification rule on incidents is May 1st
Let's go over what your bank should have in place for this joint rule by the FRB, FDIC and OCC. We will go over the items your bank should have in policies, what you should be doing with your third parties, and review guidance that came out on March 30th from the FDIC concerning contacts (as well as any new guidance by the FRB or OCC on notification.) We don't want to let this slip under the radar, as it was reported that some examiners are already looking to see how banks planning on adopting the rule.

Watch out for new LockBit 2.0 Ransomware
The new Ransomware-as-a-Service LockBit 2.0 is spreading rapidly through systems worldwide. It is not only a ransomware tool created to extort money from individuals and businesses, but it is also a data exfiltrator. The FBI has released some indicators of compromise (IOCs) and also the language codes that should be disabled in the latest announcement by CISA (Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency). The link is here: FBI Releases Indicators of Compromise Associated with LockBit 2.0 Ransomware | CISA
If you find it on your systems, please report it to your local FBI contact or via https://www.ic3.gov.

On January 20, the Federal Reserve released the paper: Money and Payments: The U.S. Dollar in the Age of Digital Transformation. This continues the discussion that was started in 2020 about Central Bank Digital Currency where the there is a "digital dollar" that potentially uses a new payment rail. Having an additional payment rail comes with endless possibilities for community banks as well as some risk.
In this webinar we will discuss the 40-page paper and what are important next steps for community banks. The Federal Reserve has also asked for feedback for 20 questions - we will likely go over all the questions in subsequent webinars.
Anne Benigsen and Chris Tuzeneu from Bankers' Bank of the West and CivITas Bank Solutions will be presenting, and both are knowledgeable in crypto as well as have followed CDBC since first announced by the Federal Reserve. Come join in and listen - this will also be applicable for one CPE should the content match your certification domains.
